Products and Systems

'As an Open Systems Integrator, we have many tools and strings to hand.

Unlike your proprietary systems, we work with many different products!'

Modutrol Pty Ltd began its involvement and promotion 'Open System Solutions' since the late 90s. Starting with Echelon's LONworks protocol.

Coming from a HVAC background, we have integrated that knowledge with our knowledge of DDC controls and SCADA systems, that enable us to use a very wide range of tools and systems.

We provide choices!!!!!!!

Our Experience

Over the many years we have operated, we have programmed, engineered, modified and maintained many different controls systems for many of the major manufacturers and proprietary controls systems installed in modern buildings today.

Advanced Building Controls can provide a range of assistance and services to suit your need, not just design and installation, but also basic maintenance and housekeeping.

Unfortunately for the humble building manager/owner these larger proprietary systems once installed, are not as flexible and easy to work with as many are lead to believe.

Most of the major DDC controls manufactures, provide systems that conform to an 'OPEN PROTOCOL STANDARD' such as BACnet, MODBUS, LONWORKS; however the problem is Licensing, most of these manufactures DO NOT provide engineering software or access to their system to a third party.

This means "Yes" their systems are open and can communicate to other systems, but only they have the tools and the engineering tools allowing this integration to be carried out, and from experience the hourly rate comes at a price, generally infuriating building managers.

There are of course, way's around any problem, if a system conforms to a standard it can be made to communicate with another system, Modutrol Pty Ltd will look and undertake maintenance for most DDC control system's, and are are able to provide general and basic maintenance for such systems, of course within the limits of the tools that are available.

Pretty much every DDC operates the same, a programmable controller with physical input and output connections, with a set of programmed instructions that allow it set its outputs according to information on its inputs.

There are many engineers that can program and engineer a DDC controller to a specification, there are not so many engineers that understand that to engineer correctly and efficiently, you should have an understanding of the very plant/equipment you are going to be controlling.
